Same Coin - Short Film

Synopsis: The film centers on a tense, moral confrontation between two police officers following a tragic incident on duty. Back at the precinct, a rookie officer struggles with his conscience, intending to file a report that exposes misconduct. He argues that they escalated a situation with a civilian who was simply walking down the street.

A cynical veteran officer attempts to talk him out of it, lecturing him on the "realities" of the job. He argues that survival ("making it home to see your family") takes precedence over the rulebook or the public's trust, characterizing the people in the neighborhoods they patrol as dangerous threats rather than a community to be served.

Intercut with this locker-room debate is the incident itself: a nighttime stop where the officers confront a Black man who matches a vague description. Despite the man’s pleas of innocence and compliance ("my hands are up"), the situation escalates rapidly, highlighting the devastating consequences of racial profiling and the "shoot first" mentality.

Themes: The film explores the "Blue Wall of Silence," the erosion of police integrity, and the systemic disconnect between law enforcement and the communities they are sworn to protect. The title "Same Coin" suggests a fatal cycle where fear and prejudice lock both sides into a tragedy.
